According to data from ChemOrbis Price Index, import LDPE and LLDPE film prices in China are currently trading close to par with spot ethylene, a situation that last occurred in around mid-May of this year.
Market players in Turkey have mostly concluded their October business with rollovers for PP and drops for PE. However, trading remained limited to moderate quantities due to the ongoing financial issues.
In Europe, rollovers have passed on October PVC deals in most cases, although there are still some sellers aiming for slight increases of €5/ton. The main reason behind this was cited as slow buying interest that mitigated the impact of the production loss amid regional PVC shutdowns.
Both local and import homo-PP prices in China have extended their gains into the post-National Day holiday period. Sellers have preserved their firm pricing policy on the back of higher futures prices, good demand coupled with lower-than-expected inventory levels. High spot propylene prices in Asia also continue to support the PP market.
