Stats: Türkiye’s April polymer imports hit an all-time high by Merve Madakbaşı
According to ChemOrbis Stats Wizard, Türkiye’s total April polymer imports pointed to the highest monthly volume since ChemOrbis started to compile data in 2003. The figure indicated an increase of 21% from the previous month and was up by 12.5% from April 2024. Saudi Arabia remained the number one polymer supplier, followed by the USA and South Korea. Stats: Türkiye’s Q1 polymer imports up 6% year over year by Merve Madakbaşı
ChemOrbis Stats Wizard data revealed that the total polymer imports of Türkiye were up by 3% in Q1 2025 from the prior quarter and stood at slightly above 1.5 million tons. The volume was also up by 6% from Q1 2024, when imports were 1.4 million tons. ABS; Acrylonitrile (ACN) is a polymer formed by the combination of butadiene and styrene feedstocks. Since it is a durable plastic; ABS is frequently used in automotive, electrical-electronics and household appliances.
There are natural, black and white types of ABS, which are then divided in injection and extrusion applications. The usage of natural type is much more common.
While South Korea and Taiwan are the top ABS exporters in the world market, China maintains its position as the biggest buyer by accounting for more than 40% of world’s imports alone.
