Europe’s PP, PE and PVC markets return from holiday on a bullish note
by Manolya Tufan
As August draws to a close, participants in the PP, PE and PVC markets have started to return to their desks in Europe following the long summer break. September expectations are developing on the bullish side, driven by the possible hikes in monomer contracts, easing stock pressure as well as hopes for vivid replenishment activity...

African PE, PP markets offered mixed bag in August, Sept outlook firm
by Nada Samir
A rising tide has not lifted all the boats in Africa’s polyolefin markets during August. Nigeria has pioneered the price hikes for PP and PE prices across the region this month, although the rest of the region mostly saw rollovers or decreases amidst chronically dull downstream demand...

Mid-Eastern PP and PE markets set to follow global firming in September
by Nada Samir  and Esra Ersöz
Price declines in PP markets seem to have largely slowed and the PE markets have even moved sideways in August across the Middle East. The rebound that kicked off in Asia and Türkiye in July and extended into August appears to have helped the regional markets mostly stabilize at 3-year lows, while the upturn is expected to be reflected on the offers to the region next month...

PP and PE prices remain strong despite ebbing demand in Türkiye
by Merve Madakbaşı
Polyolefin markets extended their gains into August, with prices for more PP and PE grades moving above the $1000/ton CIF Türkiye threshold. Both markets bottomed out in mid-July, with reduced stocks at mainstream suppliers and an upward pressure from poor netbacks to Asian markets for certain products propelling prices higher...

About ChemOrbis Polypropylene (PP) prices and Plastics News

Polypropylene (PP) is a product group produced by the conversion of propylene monomer through a process of polymerization. Polypropylene (PP) is the world's second largest polymer in terms of consumption. There are two main types of PP: Homo-PP and PP Copolymer.

Homo-PP (PPH) is further divided into various grades, such as raffia, injection, fiber, film, BOPP and non-woven. Homo-PP is used in various applications, such as sacks, gift wraps, carpet yarns, kitchenware, automotive parts, food packaging, sanitary pads, diapers and wet wipes. PP Copolymer, which is made more durable by the addition of ethylene monomer during the conversion process, is used in household appliances, automotive and electrical parts and pipe applications.

Looking at the most important net buyer and supplier countries in the polypropylene (PP) market, China stands at the top of the list of importing countries. As of 2020, China alone realizes 25% of the world’s total PP imports. China is followed by Türkiye, which imports 10% of the world’s total PP production, while Italy occupies the third place in rankings. South Korea, Malaysia and Germany comprise the top three main PP suppliers.
