Türkiye PVC Outlook for 2026: From pandemic lows to a measured recovery - Will clouds finally scatter after a year of persistent weakness? by Merve Madakbaşı
PVC has been searching for a floor in Türkiye after more than three quarters of declines in 2025, driven by persistent global price weakness and lackluster demand. Indeed, shrinking sellers’ margins triggered several attempts to halt—or briefly reverse—the downtrend, but each effort ultimately faltered amid subdued end-user consumption, and a broad overhang of supply... 08-12-2025
Taiwanese PVC slumps further: Will India market bottom out? by Shibu Itty Kuttickal
The Indian PVC market was jolted in mid‑November when a Taiwanese major reduced its benchmark by $40/ton for December, followed by a $60/ton cut for November. Most participants had penciled in a $10-20/ton trim, so the deeper cut reset expectations and underscored fragile sentiment... 28-11-2025
Asian origins take over lost US and Egypt share in Europe PVC imports, sparking new ADD concerns by Manolya Tufan
Europe’s PVC market is undergoing a structural shift since very high energy costs, shrinking domestic production and growing import dependence reshape trade flows. Yet this rising reliance on external supply comes at a time when protectionist pressures are also intensifying. With US and Egyptian volumes collapsing under ADDs, Asian suppliers have moved quickly to fill the widening gap... 27-11-2025
ADD next after BIS? India’s PVC market shaken as speculation grows; sellers brace for impact by Shibu Itty Kuttickal
The Indian market is facing a fresh wave of bearish sentiment as strong market talk suggests the government scrapping its plan to impose anti-dumping duties (ADD) on SPVC imports. Duties against US- and China-origin PVC expired on November 14, and no updates were seen at the time of publication on November 20... 21-11-2025
European PVC markets weaken in Nov as demand slows, imports weigh by Manolya Tufan
European PVC markets adopted a softer note in November as sellers struggled to defend margins amid muted demand, ample supply and continued pressure from Asian imports. The lower ethylene settlement added further pressure on PVC prices, making modest reductions more common across the region despite ongoing rollover attempts, with some distributors applying slightly larger cuts to stimulate sales in a highly competitive environment... 13-11-2025
Unlike other polymers that are derived from crude oil and natural gas, Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) is part of the chlor-alkali industry. The main raw material used to produce PVC is sodium chloride. Caustic soda and chlorine are made via the electrolysis of sodium chloride. While caustic soda has its own uses, ethylene dichloride (EDC) is made by the chlorination of ethylene and chlorine, and is used primarily in the production of vinyl chloride monomer (VCM). In the final stage, PVC is produced by polymerization of VCM.
PVC is divided into two categories: emulsion PVC and suspension PVC. While emulsion PVC (E-PVC) has a limited area of use, suspension PVC (S-PVC) enjoys a greater area of use. S-PVC grades are characterized by K values. K67-68 is the most commonly used PVC type. PVC K67-68 is used in profile and pipe applications and has a direct relation to the construction industry. Due to its dependence on the construction sector, PVC is also directly affected by the economic performance of countries, either positively or negatively.
PVC K64-65 is also used in the manufacture of pipes and profiles. K58 is used in rigid applications, such as injection molding, and the manufacture of credit cards and food packaging. K70 is used in the manufacture of shoes, cables, hoses, shower curtains, tablecloths and stationery.
Looking at the top buyers and sellers on a country-based breakdown, the USA is at the top of the list of largest exporters with a market share of more than 20%. Taiwan is the second largest PVC supplier, followed by Germany. India is the top PVC buyer in global markets by a long way. Although China has reduced its dependence on imports with new PVC capacities it has commissioned over the last 20 years, it still ranks as the second largest PVC importer in the world. In addition, China has the world's largest acetylene-based PVC capacities. China is followed by Türkiye and Italy, having almost the same level of market share in PVC imports.
