Acetylene based PVC loses competitiveness in Thailand

According to a producer in Thailand, PVC demand is slowing down compared to previous month while acetylene based PVC prices are becoming less competitive relative to conventional PVC. A producer source commented, “We see further price decreases on the horizon, albeit not in large amounts. Demand for acetylene based PVC is not strong in Thailand as conventional Chinese PVC is more competitive for now.”
A distributor in Thailand commented that the market is under downward pressure due to the rainy season. “Domestic prices are weakening, however customers still think offers are too high compared with Chinese origins,” the distributor stated.
In Thailand, import prices for k67 stand at $800/ton while acetylene based materials stand at $770/ton on a CIF Thailand, cash equivalent basis.
