Aromatics Malaysia to shut PX, benzene plant for maintenance

Market sources report that Aromatics Malaysia, a joint venture between Petronas (70%), Japan’s Mitsubishi (20%) and JX Nippon Oil and Energy (10%), is planning to shut its aromatics plant at Kertih, Terengganu, Malaysia as of March 28 for a planned maintenance which is expected to take about 45 days.
The plant is able to produce 500,000 tons/year of paraxylene and about 200,000 tons/year of benzene.
