Asahi Kasei’s cracker returns, SP Chemicals’ VCM unit down

According to market sources, Japan’s Asahi Kasei Mitsubishi Chemical Ethylene Corp. restarted its steam cracker in Mizushima on July 3 following an annual maintenance which started in early May. The cracker can produce 495,000 tons/year of ethylene and 320,000 tons/year of propylene.
Meanwhile, the sources reported that China’s SP Chemicals shut its 300,000 tons/year No 2 VCM line in Jiangsu at the beginning of July due to a technical issue. The line has a production capacity of 300,000 tons/year.
