According to market sources, August propylene contracts were settled in the US. The new propylene contracts were agreed with an increase of 3.5 cent/lb ($77/ton) from July at 37 cents/lb ($815/ton) FD USG for polymer-grade propylene and at 35.5 cents/lb ($782/ton) for chemical-grade propylene with the same terms.

Sources attributed several unplanned refinery and steam cracker outages as the main reason behind the higher spot and contract pricing.
