BASF net income tumbles in Q1 on lower prices
EBITDA before special items also fell, decreasing by €87 million to €2.6 billion, although it remained in line with analyst expectations. Sales for the quarter came in at €17.4 billion, €151 million below the prior-year figure, as weak volumes in Agricultural Solutions, Chemicals, and Nutrition & Care segments combined with lower prices amid competitive pressure.
Despite heightened uncertainty stemming from new US tariffs and countermeasures, BASF left its full-year 2025 outlook unchanged. The company continues to target EBITDA before special items of €8.0–8.4 billion and free cash flow of €0.4–0.8 billion.
