Borealis invests over €100 million to expand PP capacity in Austria
The advanced PP compounds produced at Schwechat will serve multiple industries. In consumer products and appliances, they offer durable and recyclable solutions. In mobility, they support lightweight components for electric vehicles while helping meet EU requirements for recycled content. The compounds also provide protective layers for steel pipes used in high-temperature oil and gas transport.
“This is our third major investment this year, following expansions in our energy business and recyclable polymer foam solutions,” said Borealis CEO Stefan Doboczky. “With this new capacity, we can deliver more innovative, high-quality materials that help customers meet performance and sustainability goals. The project turns innovation into practical solutions, bringing our We4Customers strategy to life.”
