Borealis launches ADCA-free PE material for data cables

According to a release on the company’s website, Vienna based chemicals producer Borealis and its Abu Dhabi based joint venture Borouge launched the first material solution which is free of azodicarbonamide (ADCA). The new material will be used as a blowing agent in foamed communication cables.
Borealis developed the ADCA-free PE grade coded “HE4883” in collaboration with Brand-Rex, a developer of cabling solutions for network infrastructure and industrial applications, the release said.
ADCA, is also classified as “substance of very high concern” by the European Chemical Agency (ECHA) because of its negative effect on the respiratory system.
