CB&I awarded EPC contract for Oman’s Liwa project

According to a company release by CB&I, the company’s joint venture with Taiwan’s CTCI Corporation has been awarded a contract to provide engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services to Oman’s state-owned Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries’ (Orpic) planned Liwa Plastics Complex in Sohar, Oman.

The contract value was reported at $2.8 billion and includes the steam cracker and associated utilities within the planned project. The Liwa Plastics Complex is slated to have production capacities of 440,000 tons/year of HDPE, 440,000 tons/year of LLDPE and 400,000 tons/year of PP. The complex will also house an 800,000 tons/year steam cracker.
