According to market sources, Indonesia’s Chandra Asri shut its 100,000 tons/year butadiene extraction unit at Cilegon, Banten for technical problems. The shutdown is expected to last for minimum 10-12 days.

The unit operated by Petrokimia Butadiene Indonesia uses 315,000 tons/year of mixed c4 from its cracker at the same site to be able to produce butadiene. The sources reported that the company sold its crude c4 feedstock since it will not be processed by the unit.
