China’s Better Clean Energy awards UOP contract for MTO plant

According to media reports, China’s Better Clean Energy has acquired a license to use Honeywell UOP’s advanced methanol-to-olefins (MTO) process for its facility in Shandong province, China. Better Clean Energy’s new plant is expected to have a production capacity of 300,000 tons/year of ethylene and propylene. The facility is expected to be launched by 2016.

In line with the agreement, UOP will also provide engineering, training, technical service and specialty equipment for the facility.
