According to market sources, China’s Jiangsu Shenghong shut its methanol-to-olefin plant on January 7. The company was reportedly forced to shut the plant as its ethylene storage capacity was full and there was not a downstream unit to consume it. The start-up of its downstream ethylene vinyl acetate unit remains delayed, according to sources.

The company is planning to restart the plant at the beginning of February, sources reported.

The MTO plant has a production capacity of 385,000 tons/year of propylene, 315,000 tons/year of ethylene and 100,000 tons/year of c4/c5.
