China’s Xi’an city enters lockdown on rising Covid-19 cases
The lockdown, which affects more than 13 million people, allows only one person per household to go out every two days to buy essentials. Furthermore, intercity travels from the region have been banned except for necessary and urgent situations during the lockdown and a large number of flights from the city have also been canceled.
Non-essential businesses, such as movie theaters, and also in-person educational institutions have been ordered to suspend operations, while schools have switched to online classes. Large-scale events have also been banned.
The city reported 143 new cases since December 9.
