According to media reports, China’s exports increased for the first time in four months in June. Exports surged 2.1% on the year on a yuan basis in June. Economists’ initial estimates had called for a gain of 1.2%, according to a survey conducted by Bloomberg. Imports, however, fell by 6.7% in June, resulting in a trade surplus of 284.2 billion yuan ($45.8 billion).

The improvement in exports is being taken by some analysts as a sign that the Chinese economy is beginning to stabilize. Sources stated that a stronger export sector may prevent China’s economic downturn from deepening.
