China’s polymer imports slid 6.8% in April
The top five polymer exporters to China in April were South Korea (207,854 tons), Saudi Arabia (198,913 tons), Iran (171,103 tons), Taiwan (168,796 tons) and the United Arab Emirates (131,603 tons).
In April, the country’s LDPE imports declined 13.4% when compared to the same month of 2015 to be reported at 170,703 tons while it was down by around 26.5% compared with March’s 232,146 tons. Iran was the top LDPE supplier to China with 39,035 tons, followed by Qatar (19,491 tons).
China’s HDPE imports were up around 4.2% from a year earlier to reach 471,563 tons in April while imports decreased by 12.3% when compared with the previous month. Iran was the top supplier to China in April with 119,618 tons, followed by Saudi Arabia (81,503 tons), the United Arab Emirates (74,985 tons) and South Korea (43,659 tons).
LLDPE imports fell about 14.5% on a yearly basis to reach 208,717 tons in April while they were down by around 16.7% when compared to the 250,587 tons of imports recorded in March.
Saudi Arabia was the top supplier to China with 46,442 tons, followed by Singapore (45,100 tons) and Thailand (24,843 tons).
Imports for homo-PP fell 14.2% on the year to reach 245,926 tons in April. South Korea remained at the top of the homo-PP import list with 64,668 tons, followed by Saudi Arabia (47,462 tons) and Singapore (32,957 tons). On a monthly basis, meanwhile, China’s homo PP imports also dipped around 7.2% in April.
PP copolymer imports posted a slight increase of 0.4% year over year to reach 113,323 tons in April while declining by 8.2% from a month earlier. Taiwan was the top exporter to China with 31,861 tons, followed by Singapore (29,622 tons) and South Korea (18,886 tons).
China’s PVC imports, meanwhile, decreased around 5.1% on the year to 50,306 tons in April. The top PVC exporter to China in April was the United States (20,988 tons), followed by Taiwan (13,926 tons) and Japan (9,841 tons). Compared with March, China’s PVC imports fell around 15.6% in April.
China’s PS imports slid 15.5% on a yearly basis to 45,246 tons in April. Taiwan was the top PS exporter to China in April with 16,506 tons, followed by Hong Kong with 7,441 tons. China’s April PS imports also witnessed a slight decrease of around 0.1% from March.
The country’s ABS imports for April declined 8.6% on the year to 118,735 tons. Taiwan was at the top of the ABS import list with 61,299 tons, followed by South Korea (39,916 tons).
