A gauge of Chinese manufacturing decreased to a six month low in November, according to data compiled by HSBC and Markit Economics. The country’s manufacturing declined in November due to persistently softening new exports and insufficient domestic demand.

A preliminary purchasing managers’ index from HSBC declined to 50.0 in November after posting a final reading of 50.4 in October, with the November figure being the lowest reading since May. Any reading above 50 indicates expansion from the previous month, while a reading below 50 indicates contraction.

Meanwhile, the Chinese economy grew 7.3% on a yearly basis in the third quarter, posting the slowest pace since the first quarter of 2009.
