Chinese players gauge ban on scrap plastics imports
Following the ban decision, Chinese players shared their opinions about the possible impacts of this movement on the industry.
A Shanghai-based PE trader commented, “We don’t think this ban will result in more demand for virgin material or it will have a significant impact on the market. This is for the benefit of local players as the market will rely more on local supplies.”
Another trader noted, “China’s ban decision on imports of scrap plastics to the country by the end of this year might be beneficial for sellers in virgin plastics business. However, how deep the overall impact will be is still evaluated.”
