Czech Unipetrol’s net profit jumps in Q2

According to media sources, Czech Unipetrol recorded a net profit of 3.57 billion crowns ($160 million) in the second quarter of 2017, up 14% from 3.11 billion crowns ($140 million) in the same period of last year. Rising petrochemical sales due to the restart of plants in Litvinov were cited as the reason behind the increase.

During the quarter, the company’s revenues also increased by 52% on a yearly basis to 31.18 billion crowns ($1.403 billion) while the operating profit rose to 5.36 billion crowns ($241 million) from 3.77 billion crowns ($169 million) in the same period of 2016.

Meanwhile, product sales of the company also jumped considerably by 120% on a yearly basis in Q2, due to improved operation at the company’s cracker.
