Domestic PS producer issues August prices in Turkey

In Turkey, players reported that they have received initial GPPS injection prices from Aschem for the month of August. Accordingly, the producer’s recent list prices for GPPS are standing at $1470/ton FCA Yumurtalik, Adana, cash not inc VAT to indicate an increase of $30/ton from early July.
The producer is reportedly yet to receive feedbacks from their customers as they have just announced their new offers. Players attributed the producer’s hike decision to the surging spot styrene costs in Europe following Shell’s production issues given a fire that broke out at Pernis in late July. “Although August styrene contracts settled €30/ton lower in Europe, rising spot styrene costs paved the way for higher prices from the domestic producer,” commented a player.
Over the past week, spot styrene prices climbed around $100/ton on FOB NWE basis week over week although they erased some part of their gains at the end of the week.
