EU car registrations see fresh hikes in June

According to the European auto manufacturers’ association, ACEA, new passenger car registrations rose for the 22nd consecutive month in the European Union in June. On a year over year basis, registrations were up 14.6% to 1,364,009 autos, posting the highest over the month increase since December 2009.

Among the major markets, passenger car sales in Spain (+23.5%), France (+15.0%), Germany (+12.9%) and the UK (+12.9%) posted double digit growth in June.

In the first six months of 2015, meanwhile, new passenger car sales increased 8.2% on the year to reach 7,169,984 units. Among the major markets, Spain posted the biggest growth (+22.0%) in the first half on a yearly basis, followed by Italy (+15.2%), the UK (+7.0%), France (+6.1%) and Germany (+5.2%).
