EU initiates antidumping investigation on ABS imports from S. Korea, Taiwan

According to an official document published on December 19, the European Commission has launched an anti-dumping investigation into acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) imports from South Korea and Taiwan. The complaint, filed on November 4, 2024, by INEOS Styrolution Switzerland SA, Versalis SpA, and Trinseo Europe GmbH, alleged harmful trade practices.

The complainants provided evidence that ABS imports from these countries, classified under CN code 3903 30 00, increased in volume and market share. This rise negatively impacted European industries’ sales, prices, and market position, leading to significant financial and operational declines.

The investigation will examine dumping and injury for the period from October 1, 2023, to September 30, 2024. Trends relevant to injury assessment will be reviewed from January 1, 2020, to the end of the investigation.

The investigation will be concluded within a year, but no later than 14 months from the notice publication date. Provisional measures may be imposed within seven to eight months of the notice.
