Egypt mulls building Mid-East’s largest petchem complex

According to media reports, Egypt is now negotiating with a petrochemical investment firm on the establishment of the largest petrochemical complex in the Middle East. The construction works for the planned complex will start in the first quarter of 2018 and will last for four or five years. It will reportedly be founded in three areas in el Ein el Sokhna while it is estimated to worth $10.5 billion.

Output from the planned complex will be primarily targeted to meet the local market’s needs and the remainder will be directed to export destinations, according to reports.
