In Egypt, a source from the local PVC producer EPC reported that they have just started a maintenance shutdown at their VCM line this week. The producer operates an 88,000 tons/year VCM line, which they halted operations on January 10th. The shutdown is expected to last around 10 days and the plant is expected to be operational by the end of this week. According to a company source, they hold sufficient PVC stocks to deliver to the market and therefore, their deliveries will not be affected negatively by their VCM shutdown.

Prior to the shutdown news, EPC had issued their prices at a rollover for the second half of January, at EGP7000/ton ($979/ton) for PVC k67-68 and at EGP7150/ton ($1000/ton) for PVC k70 on ex-Alexandria, cash excluding VAT basis.
