Egypt’s EPPC, OPC reveal Jan PP offers to local market
EPPC, the largest PP manufacturer in Egypt and North Africa, revealed its January offers for PP film at $1325/ton, PP raffia at $1350/ton and PP fibre at $1400/ton, all on ex-works Port Said, cash basis.
The latest levels indicated a visible increase of around $250/ton for PPH raffia and fibre, while PPH film offers witnessed $195/ton increases over December.
"Our engagement to the local market will be very limited," a source close to the company said, adding that they would be offering limited allocations due to higher netbacks in export markets."
OPC, the other local PP producer, announced its January offers for PP raffia at EGP21,250-21,650/ton ($1352-1378/ton), all on an ex-Ain Sokhna, cash not including VAT basis. This indicated a visible increase of around EGP2650-2800/ton ($167-178/ton) from December.
“Buyers initially showed a slight resistance to our hikes, but they came to accept our new price levels eventually. We are almost sold out thanks to a good number of inquiries we are receiving,” a source close to the producer reported and added that their plant is operating at full capacity.
