According to media reports, Kuwait’s Equate Petrochemical is planning to begin the second phase of its expansion project at Shuaiba PE plant by the end of this year. The company had completed the first phase of the debottlenecking project early this year. The second phase of the project, meanwhile, is expected to be completed in the first half of 2016.

Through the debottlenecking project, Equate’s PE capacity at Shuaiba will increase to around 1 million tons/year from its current capacity of 825,000 tons/year. The company currently has production capacities of 525,000 tons/year of HDPE and 300,000 tons/year of LLDPE at Shuaiba. Equate also has a 550,000 tons/year MEG plant at the same site.
