Commercial vehicle sales in the European Union decreased in December, according to data from the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA). New commercial vehicle registrations decreased 2.5% to 166,742 units in December. The slowdown in the region’s commercial vehicle sales was attributed to significant decreases seen in the truck, bus and coach sectors.

For the full year of 2014, however, new commercial vehicle registrations in the EU rose 7.6% to reach 1, 849,077 units when compared to the previous year. Within the EU, new commercial vehicle registrations posted increases on the year in the UK, Italy, Spain and Germany, with sales rising 10.8%, 13.9%, 31.6% and 4.8%, respectively while France’s new commercial vehicle registrations were down 0.4% in 2014.
