According to data from the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA), passenger car sales in the European Union increased for the nineteenth straight month in March. New passenger car registrations were up 10.6% year over year to reach 1,604,107 units. All major markets in the region posted gains while Spain (+40.5%) and Italy (+15.1%) reported double digit growths.

In the first quarter of this year, meanwhile, passenger car sales in Europe rose 8.6% to reach 3,527,704 units. The increase was mostly led by higher sales in Spain and Italy, which surged 32.2% and 13.5%, respectively, in the three months ending in March.
