European Commission launches expiry review of anti-subsidy measures on Indian PET

According to an official document, the European Commission has started a review of the anti-subsidy measures on polyethylene terephthalate (PET) imports from India. PET Europe, representing the European PET industry, requested the review on April 26, 2024, arguing that the expiry of the measures would be likely to result in continuation or recurrence of subsidization.
The review will examine whether the subsidies and the resulting harm to the EU industry are ongoing. Evidence provided includes claims that various subsidy programs in India continue and that these subsidies give Indian producers an unfair advantage. The Commission will investigate these practices and their impact on the EU market.
The investigation is expected to be completed within 12 to 15 months.
