According to data from Eurostat, seasonally adjusted construction output in the European Union decreased 0.8% year over year in August, although it posted a 0.5% increase compared to July. The decrease in construction was attributed to the 5.4% decrease in civil engineering despite a 0.4% increase in building construction.

On a yearly basis, the largest decreases were seen in Romania (15.6%), Germany (2.6%) and the UK (2.5%) while the highest increase in construction output was reported by Slovenia (up 27.6%). It was followed by Spain (22%) and Sweden (9.4%) in the list of countries witnessing increases in construction output.
