Eurozone GDP growth rises in Q4

According to data released by Eurostat, economic growth in the eurozone was at 0.5% in the fourth quarter of 2016 on a quarterly basis for the fourth consecutive quarter and matched the estimates of an increase by 0.4%. Compared with the same period of 2015, the region’s gross domestic product (GDP) climbed by 1.8% in Q4. The economists had estimated a yearly growth of 1.7%.

The data also showed that GDP was up by 1.7% in 2016.

Among member states, GDP gained speed in Lithuania (1.3%), Latvia (0.8%), Belgium (0.4%) and France (0.4%) while it remained flat in Spain (0.7%) and Austria (0.5%).
