Eurozone March industrial output down on month, up on year

According to data from Eurostat, industrial output in the Eurozone decreased by 0.1% on a monthly basis in March after a fall of 0.3% in February. It was, however, up further by 1.9% when compared to the same month of 2016, following a yearly rise of 1.2% in the previous month.

The monthly decrease in output in March was mainly driven by a decrease of 3.2% in production of energy while the annual increase was driven by a rise of 4.1% in production of durable goods, by 3.2% in intermediate goods, by 2.7% in capital goods and 1.7% in non-durable consumer goods.
