Eurozone construction output declines in February

According to data released by Eurostat, construction output in the eurozone declined for the first time in three months in February. The region’s construction output was down 1.8% on the month in February, posting the biggest decrease since September. On a yearly basis, construction output slipped 3.7% after increasing 0.7% in January.

The data showed that construction output in the building sector decreased 1.6% on a monthly basis while output in civil engineering dropped 2.6% in February.

Among EU member states, the largest decreases in production in construction were seen in Germany (-3.1%), France and Portugal (both -2.2%), while Romania (+5.3%), Poland (+3.8%), and Hungary (+3.2%) posted the biggest the highest increases in February.
