Eurozone construction output decreases in December

According to data obtained from Eurostat, the seasonally adjusted production in the euro area’s construction sector decreased by 2.5% month-over-month in December.
In December, civil engineering decreased by 4% and building construction by 2.3% when compared to November.
Production in construction also decreased by 1.3% when compared to a year earlier.
Among the Member States, the highest decreases in production in construction were recorded in Germany (8%), Austria (7.6%) and Poland (2.8%). The largest increases were observed in Slovenia (10.6%), Slovakia (9.5%) and Sweden (4.3%).
Annual comparison showed that civil engineering was down by 1.5% and building construction by 1.3% in the euro area.
