Fire hits Japan’s JX Nippon’s Kashima oil refinery

A fire broke out at Japan’s JX Nippon & Energy Corporation’s oil refinery in Kashima on May 29, according to market sources. The company reportedly shut their refinery following the incident. The fire reportedly started at a heavy oil circulation pump. Several production units were reportedly affected by the blaze, although the precise units affected could not be confirmed by the time of publishing.

The company’s refinery has a production capacity of 252,000 barrels/day.
