Formosa Plastics USA has made a progress on the construction and start-up of expansion plans at its Point Comfort, Texas and Baton Rouge, Louisiana sites in the US, the company stated in a press release.

Accordingly, Formosa plans to start up its new cracker and two PE plants in Point Comfort, Texas by the second half of 2019. One of the PE plants will have a combined HDPE/LLDPE capacity of 400,000 tons/year and the other will produce LDPE at the same capacity. The cracker, meanwhile, will produce 1.2 million tons/year of ethylene.

The company will also operate a new 250,000 tons/year of PP plant at the same location for which the current start-up schedule hints at the second half of 2020.

Formosa’s PVC expansion in Baton Rouge, Louisiana is scheduled to begin operations in the final quarter of 2021, meanwhile. The expansion is expected to add 136,000 tons/year capacity.
