France’s Kem One puts PVC customers on allocation

France’s Kem One has put its PVC customers on allocation due to feedstock related disruptions following a force majeure at the company’s supplier’s cracker in Lavera, according to a letter sent to its customers. A disruption in the feedstock chain for ethylene affected Kem One’s production of VCM and EDC, which are essential for production of PVC.

Consequently, and given the already low level of our stocks of intermediates and finished products, we are obliged to allocate our Mass and Suspension PVC products between our customers, the letter said.

Although the duration of this event remains unknown, the company is working directly with its ethylene supplier to plan a restart as soon as possible and putting in effort to find promptly ethylene from alternative sources.
