According to a press release published today on the company’s website, France’s Total Petrochemicals acquired a 68% stake in Germany’s Polyblend on February 25, 2015. The acquisition is the latest stage in Total’s strategy of developing higher-value-added polymers and differentiating itself in markets away from commodity plastics.

Total is reportedly building two propylene compounding lines at the Carling site in France which are projected to be launched by the spring of 2016.

Meanwhile, Polyblend is currently able to produce 80,000 tons/year of PP and PE.
