According to data released by France’s statistical office Insee, the country’s industrial output posted an unexpected decrease in March. Industrial production declined 0.3% on the month in March, missing economists’ estimates, which called for an increase of 0.1%. However, on a quarter over quarter basis, France’s industrial and manufacturing production grew 1.4% and 0.8%, respectively in the first three months.

The country’s manufacturing output increased 0.3% month over month, beating economist’s initial estimates which called for a decrease of 0.3%.

The data also showed that France’s construction output rose 0.9% on the month in March after declining 2.2% in February.
