According to a purchasing managers’ index (PMI) compiled by HSBC, Indonesia’s manufacturing sector saw reduced activity in November, posting the lowest level since 2011, when the measure was first introduced. HSBC’s PMI decreased to a reading of 48 for November, down from a reading of 49.2 in October. Any figure below 50 indicates a contraction.

Lower output, a smaller number of new orders as well as fuel price hikes were blamed for the decrease in the country’s manufacturing activity.
