Germany’s factory orders fall at fastest pace in July

According to data released by Germany’s statistics Office, Destatis, the country’s factory orders posted the steepest decline since January, declining by 1.4% from a year earlier. In January, Germany’s factory orders had slipped 2.6% compared with the previous year. Economists’ initial estimates called for a decrease of 0.6%.

The data showed that domestic orders rose 4.1% in July while foreign orders fell 5.2% when compared to the previous month. New export orders from the euro area increased 2.2% while orders from other countries slumped 9.5% in July.
