According to the data released by Destatis, Germany’s factory orders declined in April after a slowdown in March.

The data showed that the country’s factory orders decreased by 2.1% month-on-month in April after a revised rise of 1.1% in March and fell below the estimates of a slight fall of 0.3%. This was also the first fall in three months.

The monthly decrease in April was mainly driven by a decrease in foreign orders by 3.4% from a month earlier with orders from the euro area declining by 1.4% and from other countries by 4.8%.
Meanwhile, domestic orders fell by 0.2% on a monthly basis.
