According to media reports, China’s Maoming Petrochemical, a subsidiary of Sinopec, shut its HDPE unit in Maoming City, Guangdong Province on January 9 due to a technical glitch. The unit is expected to remain offline for a week.

Maoming Petrochemical is able to produce 1 million tons/year of ethylene and 930,000 tons/year of PE.

Meanwhile, China’s Zhongsha Tianjin Petrochemical is planning to shut its HDPE unit in Tianjin City on January 12 for maintenance. The unit has a production capacity of 300,000 tons/year.

Zhongsha Tianjin Petrochemical also has a 300,000 ton/year LLDPE unit at the same site.
