According to media reports, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has raised their 2015 economic growth forecast for Turkey. Accordingly, the IMF forecast 3.4% growth for the Turkish economy this year, up 0.4% from the fund’s previous estimates reported in October, 2014. However, the IMF cut their forecast for Turkish economy to 3.4% from 3.7% for 2016.

The IMF stated that lower crude oil prices have helped ease inflation pressure on the country. On January 20, the Fund cut its global growth forecast to 3.5% this year and to 3.7% for 2016 when compared to the previously estimated growth rates of 3.8% and 4%, respectively.
