According to media reports, the Indian government has elected to renew its anti-dumping duty on PP imports from Singapore after its previous anti-dumping duty expired on July 29, 2015. Accordingly, India will impose an anti-dumping duty of $145.20/ton for PP cargoes originating in or imported from Singapore. The new anti-dumping duty will be effective for five years as of the publication date in the Official Gazette and will be paid in Indian currency.

The Indian government had imposed anti-dumping duties on PP imports from Oman, Saudi Arabia and Singapore in 2009 and had extended the safeguard measures on imports from Singapore until July 29, 2015. The Department of Revenue in the Ministry of Finance announced in the Official Gazette of India dated January 27, 2016 that cessation of anti dumping duty on imports from Singapore is likely to damage domestic producers’ interests.
