India set to raise tax on polymers under GST transition

A trader in Delhi reported that India will increase GST (Goods and Services Tax) on PVC and polymers from 5% to 18% as of July 1, 2017.
The implementation of GST has already pushed players to the sidelines given the uncertainty it caused in the market.
The trader commented, “Players are mostly waiting to see the implementation process of the tax since they are not certain about their expenses in the import procedure, the taxes that will be deposited or that will be collected from customers. There is a lot of confusion in the market now.”
