Indian producer raises local PVC prices

A source from an Indian producer reported that they implemented increases of INR1000/ton ($15/ton) on their local PVC prices effective as of October 1. The producer’s new offers stand at INR65,500/ton ($990/ton) on an ex-warehouse India, cash basis.

The source commented, “Buyers have returned to the market for restocking following the end of the monsoon season. Expectations of tight supply in October are also helping the market firm up. Our October allocation will be reduced by around 8,000-10,000 tons due to our maintenance shutdowns. Meanwhile, for November, we think that Chinese carbide based materials may start to appear in the Indian market if import prices climb above the $880/ton threshold.”

A pipe manufacturer who received higher prices from the producer stated, “Demand improved while supplies are likely to be limited in October due to plant shutdowns. Hence, the producer’s increase was already expected. We heard that overseas producers have mostly sold out their October quotas to India.”
