Indonesia’s economy grows faster than expected in Q2

According to media reports, Indonesia’s statistics bureau reported that the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) grew faster than expected in the second quarter on the back of higher commodity prices and stronger household consumption as well as government spending.

The Indonesian economy grew 5.18% in the second quarter compared with economists’ expectations which called for a growth rate of 5% in a survey by Bloomberg. The statistics bureau also revised the first quarter GDP to 4.91% from 4.92%.
